Possible rant warning lol.

I've been a huge Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas fan for years! Back in around 2014-2015, I'd been playing guitar for about 5 years and lost a lot of motivation and just stopped caring about music. Video games were the only thing I cared about, but even then, the enjoyment I got out of them was minimal.

Eventually, I stumbled onto a few things that would get me back into music. I started watching Chuggaconroy's Xenoblade let's play, which blew me away at the time. I remember at one point in the let's play (during some brother sidequest thing in Colony 9), Emile brought up Full Metal Alchemist and I was just like "damn, that's a cool title, what is that?"

I asked my brother about it and then he introduced me to a bunch of other anime and sent me down a rabbit hole. Among the first few anime for me to discover on my own was Parasyte. I saw the teaser trailer for it and it immediately grabbed my interest. And of course, I heard the opening ("Let me hear" by Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas) and thought it was the coolest thing.

I immediately bought all their albums on iTunes and became a huge fan. Shortly after all that, I started writing music for the first time (it was a New Years Resolution lmaooo). Fear, and Loathing got me into writing, producing, etc. and I'm eternally grateful for that!!

I actually forgot to check out their last few albums until the new one came out in 2022, but it turns out they're still amazing. I just randomly got obsessed again when I was listening to their new album last week and here we are.

Okay, sorry about that. I get excited easily lol.

I just gotta say though, there's no way I was going to be able to play those piano parts, so I'm super thankful for Alex nailing those parts! Thank you so much dude!

RHYTHM GUITARS

Neural DSP Soldano → Multiband Comp → EQ

Soldano:
- compressor, overdrive 1, overdrive mode for amp, 57 and 421 for mics.

EQ:
- 134 Hz high-pass; bell cuts at 700 Hz, 1.6 kHz, and 5.8 kHz, low-pass at 6.1 kHz.
- decided to roll off a lot of the highs in the rhythm guitars, since FaLiLV have a more classic metalcore sound.

Soldano → Multiband comp → EQ

Soldano:
- used the lead patch that Anthony gave me, but modified a bit lol
- overdrive 1, overdrive 2, overdrive mode for amp, around 6 for both preamp and master knobs

Multiband comp:
- i absolutely slammed the leads with multiband compression lol. i wanted it to be very leveled out and in-offensive. that might make them sound a little underwhelming, but that's fine, i like my leads to not hurt to listen to lol.

One thing I did differently for this cover was I exported the stems and mixed them in a separate session. I didn't do much mixing in the stem mix, but I was able to spot a few things that I missed in the regular mix, which was nice!

Another thing, I tried covering "Just Awake" a while back, but I gave up cuz it sounded bad. I almost scrapped this cover cuz it also sounded bad, but since Alex offered to do the piano, I felt motivated to make it happen and finish it. I still don't think it's perfect, but I'm pretty happy with it!
