Friday Night Frights returns to this stellar franchise with my first playthrough of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Director's Cut and my poor heart was NOT ready 😭 I already loved the first Fatal Frame but this sequel pulled me right back in with the Camera Obscura, cleaner combat, smoother exploration, and another story that proves this series is much more than ghosts popping out of dark corners. Mio and Mayu Amakura being drawn into All God's Village gave this game a haunting emotional center especially as the crimson butterflies, twin statues, forbidden rituals, and village folklore started revealing what these people believed sacrifice was supposed to mean. That's what keeps me coming back to Fatal Frame: the scares are brutal, the camera mechanics are addicting, _but_ the real damage comes from the stories hiding underneath all that fear. Looking back, I probably should've picked a harder difficulty, but after the first game had me fighting for my life with no health, no film, and no dignity, normal felt like the responsible choice at the time 😅 Who knows, maybe a harder run, different camera mode, or bonus chapter will bring us back to the village in the future 👀 Thanks for watching and I hope yall enjoy!!
