Hitman 3 is a 2021 stealth game developed and published by IO Interactive. It is the eighth main installment in the Hitman video game series, the sequel to 2018s Hitman 2, and the third and final entry in the World of Assassination trilogy. Concluding the story arc started in 2016s Hitman, the game follows genetically engineered assassin Agent 47 and his allies as they hunt down the leaders of the secretive organization Providence, which controls global affairs and was partially responsible for 47s creation and upbringing.
The game is presented from a third-person perspective, with a focus on interactive elements in 47s environment. Like its two predecessors, the game is structured around six levels, five of which are large sandbox locations that players can freely explore to find opportunities to eliminate their targets. Each mission also presents challenges that players can complete to unlock new items.
Hitman 3, the first game to be self-published by IO Interactive after becoming an independent studio, was released worldwide for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Stadia, and Nintendo Switch (via cloud gaming) on 20 January 2021. It received positive reviews, with praise for its level design and atmosphere, stealth mechanics, and 47s abilities. Some critics called it the best entry in the series and it has been cited as one of the greatest stealth games of all time. The game won various awards including PC Game of the Year at the 2021 Golden Joystick Awards. Grand Theft Auto IV is a 2008 action-adventure game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It is the sixth main entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, following 2004s Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and the eleventh instalment overall. Set in the fictional Liberty City, based on New York City, the single-player story follows Eastern European war veteran Niko Bellic and his attempts to escape his past while under pressure from high-profile criminals. The open world design lets players freely roam Liberty City, consisting of three main islands, and the neighbouring state of Alderney, which is based on New Jersey.
The game is played from a third-person perspective and its world is navigated on foot and by vehicle. Throughout the single-player mode, players control Niko Bellic. An online multiplayer mode is also included with the game, allowing up to 32 players to engage in both cooperative and competitive gameplay in a recreation of the single-player setting.[b] Two expansion packs were later released for the game, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, which both feature new plots that are interconnected with the main Grand Theft Auto IV storyline, and follow new protagonists.
Development of Grand Theft Auto IV began soon after the release of San Andreas and was shared between many of Rockstars studios worldwide. The game introduced a shift to a more realistic and detailed style and tone for the series. Unlike previous entries, Grand Theft Auto IV lacked a strong cinematic influence, as the team attempted an original approach to the story. As part of their research for the open world, the development team conducted extensive field research in New York, capturing over 100,000 photographs and several hours of video. The developers considered the world to be the most important element of the game; though not the largest map in the series, they considered it comparable in scope due to its verticality and level of detail. The budget climbed to over US$100 million, making it one of the most expensive video games to develop.
Grand Theft Auto IV was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles in April 2008, and for Windows in December. Upon release, the game received critical acclaim, with praise particularly directed at the narrative and open-world design. Grand Theft Auto IV broke industry sales records and became the fastest-selling entertainment product in history at the time, earning US$310 million in its first day and US$500 million in its first week. Lego Marvel Super Heroes is a 2013 Lego-themed action-adventure video game developed by Travellers Tales and published by Warner Bros. Gameplay is presented from the third-person perspective with a primary focus on Miles traversal and combat abilities. Miles can freely move around New York City, interacting with characters, undertaking missions, and unlocking new gadgets and suits by progressing through the main story or completing tasks. Outside the story, the player is able to complete side missions to unlock additional content and collectible items. Combat focuses on chaining attacks together and using the environment, webs, and Venom attacks to incapacitate numerous foes while avoiding damage.
Marvels Spider-Man: Miles Morales was officially revealed in June 2020 and launched in November 2020 on both PlayStation 4 and as a launch title for PlayStation 5. The PS5 version incorporated features made possible with the upgraded hardware, such as real-time ray tracing, native 4K resolution, and a 60 frames-per-second (FPS) Performance Mode. A Windows version was later released in November 2022. The game received generally positive reviews, with praise for its combat, narrative, content, and technical improvements of the PlayStation 4 version, while facing some criticism over its short length. It sold over 6.5 million units by July 2021. Marvels Spider-Man 2, which acts as a sequel to the first game and a direct continuation of Miles Morales, will be released on October 20, 2023, as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
