Marvels Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a 2020 action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Based on the Marvel Comics character Miles Morales, it is inspired by both the characters decade-long comic book mythology and appearances in other media, principally taking inspiration from the 2018 animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which helped popularize him. The game is a spin-off and continuation from Marvels Spider-Man (2018), and the second installment in Insomniacs Spider-Man series. The narrative focuses on Miles struggle to balance the duties of his civilian persona and his role as the second Spider-Man when his new home, Harlem, is threatened by a war between the Roxxon Energy Corporation and a high-tech criminal army called the Underground, led by the mysterious Tinkerer.
Gameplay is presented from the third-person perspective with a primary focus on Miles traversal and combat abilities. Miles can freely move around New York City, interacting with characters, undertaking missions, and unlocking new gadgets and suits by progressing through the main story or completing tasks. Outside the story, the player is able to complete side missions to unlock additional content and collectible items. Combat focuses on chaining attacks together and using the environment, webs, and Venom attacks to incapacitate numerous foes while avoiding damage.
Marvels Spider-Man: Miles Morales was officially revealed in June 2020 and launched in November 2020 on both PlayStation 4 and as a launch title for PlayStation 5. The PS5 version incorporated features made possible with the upgraded hardware, such as real-time ray tracing, native 4K resolution, and a 60 frames-per-second (FPS) Performance Mode. A Windows version was later released in November 2022. The game received generally positive reviews, with praise for its combat, narrative, content, and technical improvements of the PlayStation 4 version, while facing some criticism over its short length. It sold over 6.5 million units by July 2021. Marvels Spider-Man 2, which acts as a sequel to the first game and a direct continuation of Miles Morales, will be released on October 20, 2023, as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

Remember Me is an action-adventure video game developed by Dontnod Entertainment and published by Capcom. It was released worldwide in June 2013 for PlayStation 3, Windows, and Xbox 360. The games plot focuses on Nilin, a memory hunter working for an underground resistance called the Errorists. When the game starts, she has been stripped of nearly all her memories by megacorporation Memorize. With the help of a mysterious man named Edge, she goes on a quest to bring down Memorize and recover her lost memories. Throughout the story, she is permitted to use her Memory Remix power to ultimately refurbish peoples recollections. The combat consists of a modified combo system called Pressen.
Remember Me was developed as the debut project of Dontnod Entertainment, with one of the companys founding members Jean-Maxime Moris as its director. Part of his goal for the game was to create a thought-provoking narrative, and eventually settled on a female protagonist to help convey the storys themes. Originally a PlayStation 3-exclusive under Sony titled Adrift, it was cancelled in 2011 and later purchased by Capcom which resurrected it as a multi-platform game. Remember Me received mixed reviews upon release; praise was given to its world design, Olivier Derivieres soundtrack, the ambition of the story and the Memory Remix segments, while the main criticisms laid against other aspects of the story, poor design choices and formulaic combat.

Development of Marvels Spider-Man, the first licensed game by Insomniac in its then-22-year history, began in 2014 and took approximately four years. Insomniac was given the choice of using any character from Marvels catalog to work on; Spider-Man was chosen both for his appeal to the employees and the similarities in traversal gameplay to their previous game Sunset Overdrive (2014). The game design took inspiration from the history of Spider-Man across all media but Marvel Comics and Insomniac wanted to tell an original story that was not linked to an existing property, creating a unique universe (known as Earth-1048) that has since appeared in novels, merchandise, and comics.
Marvels Spider-Man was released for the PlayStation 4 on September 7, 2018. The game received praise for its narrative, characterization, combat, and web-swinging traversal mechanics, though some criticized its open-world design for lacking innovation. Marvels Spider-Man received a number of accolades including being named as one of the best superhero games ever made. It became one of the fastest-selling games of the year and the best-selling PlayStation 4 game of all time, selling over 20 million units by November 2020. Insomniac supported the game extensively after launch, releasing a three-part story expansion titled The City That Never Sleeps and several new alternate costumes for Spider-Man. A remastered version of Marvels Spider-Man, featuring all previously released downloadable content, was released for the PlayStation 5 in November 2020 and for Windows in August 2022. The games success launched the identically named video game series, beginning with Marvels Spider-Man: Miles Morales, a spin-off sequel focused on Spider-Mans protégé Miles Morales, in November 2020. A full sequel, Marvels Spider-Man 2, is scheduled for release in October 2023 for PlayStation 5.

The Lord of the Rings: War in the North is a 2011 action role-playing hack and slash video game developed by Snowblind Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows. An OS X port was developed and published by Feral Interactive in 2013. It is the first video game based on both J. R. R. Tolkiens 1954 high fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings and Peter Jacksons film trilogy adaptation released in 2001 (The Fellowship of the Ring), 2002 (The Two Towers) and 2003 (The Return of the King). This is because, until 2009, Vivendi Universal Games, in partnership with Tolkien Enterprises, held the rights to make games based on Tolkiens literary works, whilst Electronic Arts held the rights to make games based on the New Line Cinema films. In 2009, WB Games acquired the rights for both intellectual properties.
The game contains narrative elements unique to both the novel and the films, although the aesthetic design is based more specifically upon the look of the films, with characters in the game bearing the likenesses of the actors who portrayed them in the films. The game does not directly adapt the story depicted in the novel and films, but instead depicts a trio of adventurers whose quest runs parallel to the main narrative, occasionally intersecting with it. The story follows them as they attempt to track down and defeat a powerful Black Númenórean named Agandaûr, whom Sauron has employed to lay waste to the northern regions of Middle-earth, whilst Sauron himself concentrates on Rohan and Gondor.
The game received mixed reviews, with critics praising the graphics and tone, but criticizing the repetitive combat, weak storyline and poor character development. It was also criticized for containing several game-breaking bugs. War in the North was a commercial failure, which some attributed to the timing of its launch among other high-profile releases.
