On Myanmar’s Dawei Peninsula, Ko Aung Mo is more than a fisherman. Through his daily life, he reveals the story of an entire village shaped by the sea.
He fishes with his son and brother-in-law to support a household of fifteen people, maintains the boat on which their survival depends and organizes every journey around the shifting tides. Like every family in San Lan, his own can only endure through shared work, trust and mutual support.
From the women drying fish to the offerings made to the sea god, Ko Aung Mo embodies a coastal world where tradition, poverty and family are inseparable.
