Female, 24, medicine student, arrested for stealing corpses from crematory, accused of desecration of a corpse and causing risk of disease transmission.
The suspect was detained by security guard from her workplace while attempting to load suspicious crate into a car trunk; the crate contained a single stolen corpse of man, died at age of 45. Suspect was arrested after Police has arrived to the place of event.
Investigation at suspect's home found two mummified full bodies, 17 preserved body parts including hands, arms and feet; an industrial refrigerator filled with sorted and precisely arranged dissected internal organs. All human parts were coming from the crematory. Suspect was collecting anatomy and medicine textbooks. Further investigation of electronic devices showed large history of browsing anatomy-related materials and several links to organ trafficking websites from Darknet that are known to Police. Investigation not found any traces or signs that suspect was ever murdering people.
During interrogation, the suspect testified that she's been "only gathering important materials for study", and has not sold nor bought any internal organs or body parts. She also admitted she has been "spending a couple of wonderful nights at crematory" and that she "liked the smell of the oven there".
The expertise confirmed many traces of suspect's DNA found on corpses and stored body parts. One stored hand was equipped with engagement ring that was not recognized by the crematory.
Opinion of psychiatrist is needed to proceed with charges.
