Shows an example of a rocket explosion piercing a closed door to destroy an Imp on the other side. (See youtu.be/KZZD4NexMp4 for a viewpoint from the Imp's location.)
This phenomenon is rarely seen in the original PC Classic Doom games, since a potential target must be close to a relatively thin wall or door, and the odds of penetration are somewhat random. Also the amount of damage caused, if any, is variable.
Some early console ports of Doom handled explosions differently, allowing more penetration damage at greater distances.
Note that many other projectile types also have some limited capacity to cause damage through thin barriers. These generally include the 'slow' (non-hitscan) projectiles fired from player weapons, or thrown/launched by various enemies.
