America turns 250 this year. And with the FIFA World Cup and celebratory events in full swing, the Wall Street Journal named Philly one of the world’s top places to visit in 2026.

So we teamed up.

Since Philadelphia is the birthplace of American democracy, the Philadelphia Inquirer crowdsourced a list of the city's 76 best neighborhood gems for the country's 250th birthday, and Inquirer social video host Ariane Datil spent the day showing Wall Street Journal social video producer Farah Otero-Amad some of the places that make this city unforgettable.

From a basement museum dedicated entirely to yams to mosaic-covered wonderlands, neighborhood institutions and hidden works of art, these are the spots locals love most.
