Fourteen-year-old cancer survivor Noah Reeb returned to Huntsman Cancer Institute with a powerful new role—helping break ground on the expansion of the Senator Orrin G. Hatch Proton Therapy Center, the very place that helped save his life.
Diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 9, Noah was one of the first patients treated when the Proton Therapy Center opened in 2021. Now cancer-free, Noah climbed into an excavator to officially launch an expansion that will double treatment capacity and help more patients receive highly specialized care closer to home. The event marks an emotional full-circle moment for Noah and his family, highlighting how access to advanced treatment can change lives.
The expansion represents continued progress in precision cancer treatment, research, and compassionate care—ensuring more children and adults can receive world-class therapy without leaving their communities.
This video recaps the groundbreaking ceremony held on the hillside above Huntsman Cancer Institute, where patients, families, physicians, researchers, community leaders, and partners gathered to celebrate expanded access to lifesaving cancer care across the Mountain West.
