Across the entire Halo series, from Halo: Combat Evolved's campaign through to Halo Infinite's, I’m not sure there’s been a single opening mission I’d consider one of my favorites.
That being said, Cairo Station in Halo 2 is a level I’ve recently come to enjoy replaying a lot more, having previously been quite disappointed by it, and so I thought I’d jot down a few thoughts to help reconcile my conflicting emotions about Cairo Station.
In this video, I analyse everything from Cairo Station's level design and gameplay to its story, setting and atmosphere, to try and explain why this particular Halo 2 mission is such a great experience, while also drawing comparisons to other missions in the Halo series.
