Resident Evil 7 is a mostly excellent horror game and the story of Ethan Winters and the Baker family is a fine addition to the Resident Evil franchise.
Resident Evil 7 brought proceedings into first person for the first time in a mainline Resident Evil entry and introduced a whole new setting and set of characters, while also managing to stay true to its roots by borrowing from other titles in the series, such as Resident Evil Remake, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.
And it’s the good and bad around this idea of borrowing which I explore in more detail during this video, analysing everything from Resident Evil 7's homages to movies and videogames, to the numerous links between it and the original Resident Evil, as well as its remake.
