Hosted by the Regional Educational Laboratory Southeast, this webinar featured Dr. Marcia Kosanovich, Sarah Hughes, and Karli Willis highlighting key features of the Professional Learning Community: Emergent Literacy (PLC-EL), a free, evidence-based professional learning resource for preschool teachers.

The webinar focused on the research supporting high-quality professional learning and evidence-based emergent literacy instruction while demonstrating how the PLC-EL uses collaborative learning, classroom videos, hands-on activities, and implementation planning to help preschool teachers strengthen children's print knowledge, phonological awareness, vocabulary, and oral language development.

The video shows how visual representations help students communicate their thinking by representing ideas and quantities found in fraction computation problems while also serving as a tool to estimate and check the reasonableness of solutions. It also highlights possible misunderstandings and roadblocks that students may encounter as they develop their understanding.
