Hosted by Regional Educational Laboratory Southeast, Part 2 of this four-part webinar series features Dr. Heidi Goertzen of REL Southeast and Dr. Miriam Ortiz of the Gulf Comprehensive Center, highlighting key features of a new IES infographic aligned with Recommendation 2 from the What Works Clearinghouse Practice Guide Teaching Academic Content and Literacy for English Learners in Elementary and Middle School.

The presenters share how this practical resource can help educators implement Recommendation 2: Integrate oral and written English language instruction into content-area teaching. The infographic features an illustrated classroom vignette that shows how an 8th grade algebra teacher applies the recommendation with her EL students. It also demonstrates how an instructional coach supports and reinforces the teacher’s instruction through application of evidence-based coaching practices.
