🔥 Evanston Residents Deserve Fairness - Clare Kelly is Stepping Up 🔥 At the November 18th HCDC meeting, the Property Tax Circuit Breaker program wasn’t even on the agenda, even though residents across Cook County are being hit with huge tax bills. Long-term homeowners need real relief, and it’s time the city listened.
Clare Kelly has been stepping up. Her amendment to the 2026 budget cut $3 million from a proposed property tax hike, lowering the increase for a median-priced home from $270 to $162. That’s real money staying in residents’ pockets. Clare said it best:
“Reducing the 2026 levy by $3 million tonight is a big win for residents… the City must show fiscal restraint and stop unnecessarily collecting money from residents when we have ample unrestricted surplus funds.”
This fight isn’t just Clare’s…it’s residents and supporters showing up for what’s right:
