As Portugal and France battle multiple wildfires, the EU has activated the European Civil Protection Mechanism to provide rapid support.

Firefighters, aircraft and emergency resources from across Europe have been deployed to help protect lives and communities. This summer, a record 777 firefighters, 22 aircraft and 5 helicopters are on standby through the EU's rescEU fleet and Civil Protection Mechanism to respond whenever needed.
