What brings us closer together and what do we want to celebrate in each other? How we can deconstruct historic notions of perfection and ‘beauty’? How can dance express the different encounters we have in life, from energising dialogues to moments of tenderness and care?
Commissioned through Europe Beyond Access are four new duets bringing together disabled and non-disabled dancers from Sweden, Greece, Italy and The Netherlands.
This evening of mixed doubles premiered together in February at Holland Dance Festival. This trailer video filmed at the premiere gives a stunning insight to each of these four duets performed in front of an audience.
The new commissions and presenting partners are:
Skanes Dansteater | Fine Lines by Roser López Espinosa. Dancers: Madeleine Månsson and Anna Borràs Picó.
Onassis Stegi | Re-call by Venetsiana Kalampaliki.
Dancers: Eirini Kourouvani and Vivi Christodoulopoulou.
Oriente Occidente | FEELING GOOD by Diego Tortelli, FND/Aterballetto.
Dancers: Cristian Cucco and Aristide Rontini.
Holland Dance Festival | Momentum by SALLY Dansgezelschap Maastricht. Dancers: Sander Ver Beek and Pedro Ricardo Henry.
Full descriptions of each duet are available on the Europe Beyond Access website: disabilityartsinternational.org/events/mixed-doubles-at-holland-dance-festival
