Interacting with humans is where we start as some young researchers demo a domestic robot. The robot is asked to fetch orange in a mock kitchen. Professor Tamim Asfour (KIT) explains the multidisciplinary nature of robotics. What we know about humans helps us build robot brains to help them interact and communication in a natural way with humans, leading to acceptance. We meet researcher, Janne Nefzer who is doing a PhD in failure detection and recovery. Janne talks about failure in robots and teaching them to recovery from mistakes. We watch a robot learn to detect and grasp heavy objects, a task that may prove useful in dangerous or contaminated environments.

euROBIN is a pan-European Network of Excellence in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI). It unites top research labs across Europe to share data, software, and algorithms. This video outlines some of the work done within the project.
