What if one of tarot’s most influential systems was never truly seen?
In today’s video, I explore a secondhand copy of the Eudes Picard Tarot, a reconstruction of a rare and nearly lost system developed in 1909 by Eudes Picard. Unlike the more familiar Rider–Waite–Smith Tarot, this deck was never widely published, existing only in black and white and believed to have been limited to around 50 copies.
Through this walkthrough, we’ll take a closer look at:
• The historical origins of Picard’s work
• How this system influenced later decks such as El Gran Tarot Esotérico and the traditions of Oswald Wirth
• The unique pip structure, where placement and number create meaning, rooted in “as above, so below”
• Why this deck feels less like a tarot and more like a symbolic blueprint
I’ll also share my thoughts on how these structured pips open up entirely new layers of interpretation compared to traditional Marseille or scenic decks.
