Instructor Welcome to the Westbrook kit trailer assembly video. Today we'll be putting together the five by eight kit trailer with plank floor and rail sides. If you're assembling a kit trailer without a floor, certain steps will vary. Please watch for instruction prompts along the way. We will cover all the steps to complete the assembly of the following models. Before unboxing any parts of your trailer, please ensure you have received all your boxes.
The registration documentation for the trailer is enclosed in a brown envelope on the outside of box one. We recommend keeping these documents along with your bill of sale in a safe place. For Canadian residents, please match your VIN number with your NVIS form. For US residents, please match your VIN number with your certificate of origin title form. You will find the instruction manual inside of box one.
Here's a list of the tools you will need to complete the assembly. You can stop the video at this point to take note of the needed tools. Now let's start the assembly process. Step one, stake pocket and grommet installation. For this step, refer to the frame diagram in your kit trailer assembly instructions for your model.
Only hand tighten the hardware during the frame assembly or until you have completed the tongue assembly portion. If you tighten the hardware at this step, you will need to go back and loosen it to install the tongue. The edge of the frame channels can be very sharp. Please wear your safety gloves provided in the kit when handling the frame to prevent injury. All channels have been labeled on the inside with the item code for easy reference.
Take the back channel. One stake pocket, two ramp mounting brackets, and the necessary hardware. Position the stake pocket in the center of the back channel, aligning it with the pre-drilled holes. Secure it using the same 1/4 inch by 3/4 inch hex bolts and 1/4 inch lock nuts with a 7/16 inch deep socket. Align the ramp mounting brackets to the pre-drilled holes on the back channel. Secure it using 1/4 inch by 3/4 inch hex bolts and 1/4 inch lock nuts with a 7/16 inch deep socket. Grab seven stake pockets and all remaining frame channels with pre-drilled holes and the required hardware. Align each stake pocket with the pre-drilled holes on the frame channels. Secure them with 1/4 inch by 3/4 inch hex bolts and 1/4 inch lock nuts using a 7/16 inch deep socket. Take your five cross channels and install the electrical grommet on both ends. Step two, frame assembly. Take your front channel, the one with two vertical slots, and place it at the front. Take the two driver's side channels. The side channel with the marker light holes is the front end of the trailer. The square holes have to be facing down. Take the rear channel and place it at the back with the three holes facing up. Line up the passenger side channels the same way as the driver's sides. Take the connecting channels and place one on each side of the trailer. Take the five cross channels and place them in the center of the frame. If your trailer doesn't have a floor, you will only have four cross channels. Then grab the hardware that is needed. At the front corner, overlap the side channel over the front channel without inserting the side channel inside. Then use a 3/8 by 3/4 bolt and nut to hand tighten the bottom only. Slide the short connection bracket over the two side channels, aligning the pre-drilled holes on the bottom. Note that only four holes on the top will align and they will be secured once the cross channels are properly lined up. This is the hardware you will use in the next steps to secure the frame. Place the first cross channel with the opening facing the front. Do not fasten this one. Place the next two cross channels back to back on the next two available holes of the connection bracket and hand tighten them on the top and bottom. Place the fourth cross channel facing the back to the last hole of the connection channel and hand tighten on top. Place the last cross channel facing the back to the fourth last hole and hand tighten the top and bottom. You can now secure the passenger side by repeating what you did on the d
