Thousands of esports fans flocked to Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Expo to meet players from the famous South Korean video gaming team T1 during their first visit to the city. The popularity of esports has been rising in Hong Kong in recent years, but is still less developed than it is in mainland China and South Korea where players and teams can find backing from big video game companies. While Hong Kong has a relatively wide fan base, the city does not yet host many major tournaments or sources of funding. Fans and esports players in the city told the Post they hope to see more support from the government for the industry.
