Returning to Hyrule Town, Link’s father discovers that Ganondorf has gone back on his word and plans to attack the Castle. Worse than this, there are rumours in the air that it was Ganondorf who had stirred up ancient evil in the Goron and Zora temples, in an attempt to destabilise the Kingdom and seize power for himself.
As for the Gerudo Valley, there had been no new evil presence there at all, just Ganondorf and his many lies. Including the Gerudo peace medallion, which now feels like only mockery.
Even Hyrule Town itself is becoming restless and divided, with whispers about the King keeping prisoners of war in a vast temple of torture behind Kakariko Graveyard.
Before Link's parents have any chance to tell the King of the Goron and the Zora promises of peace, he launches a final show of force to end the resistance once and for all.
Fearing for the life of their young child, they make a desperate escape towards the Lost Woods. They know that no Hylian has ever made it out of there alive, but the ominous forest is now their only hope.
With the war raging around them in Hyrule Town, Hyrule Field, and Zora River, they fight enemies every step of the way, making it closer and closer to potential safety.
A short distance from their journey's end, Link’s father is hit by a blow that will prove to be fatal, and they are forced to separate. Link's mother has no choice but to continue on alone with her son, making it to the head of Zora River and diving through the open passage into the Lost Woods…

Set 10 years before the events of Ocarina of Time, Link’s Prologue tells of two courageous parents caught up in the Hyrulean Civil War, as they fight to protect their young son, Link, from evil on all sides.
