Yesterday marked the official beginning of the Eurovision Song Contest celebrations here in Basel for ESC 2025 – one week ahead of the grand finale.

To mark the occasion, the ESC community commissioned Swiss artist Claudia Comte to create a 50-meter-long, bouncy house-like inflatable art installation called Lightning Symphony, located at Basel’s Messeplatz.

I visited on the first day of the installation to capture this super colorful and playful piece, which is meant to evoke the visual rhythm of soundwaves. If you’re in Basel for the Song Contest, make sure to check it out – it’s hard to miss, as it sits at the heart of the Eurovision Village.
