On our second day in Lleida, we headed up to La Seu Vella, the city’s most iconic landmark. This medieval cathedral sits high above the city and has watched over the region since construction began in the 13th century. Even from below, the bell tower dominates the skyline, but getting up close lets you appreciate the mix of Romanesque and Gothic details, peaceful cloister, and wide open terraces. The site has seen everything from royal ceremonies to military occupation, which gives the whole place a layered, almost cinematic feeling.
