At a certain point in his career, Erik Bruun realised he needed to relinquish ‘danser noble’ roles and embrace character parts.
In this footage, we see the great Danish dancer as Madge the Witch in 'La Sylphide' (1974) and then as Doctor Coppélius in 'Coppelia' (1975).
The only time I ever saw Erik Bruhn on stage was as Madge in 'La Sylphides' with London Festival Ballet in the early 1970s.
