I am guessing this tiniest snippet of footage of Alicia Markova and Robert Helpmann performing a pas de deux from Act 2 of ‘Swan Lake’ was filmed as a cinema Arts item for, say, Movietone News.
It comes from the documentary 'Alicia Markova 'The Peoples' Ballerina'.
The setting is the Vic-Wells Ballet, as the Royal Ballet used to be.
As the dancers - Markova and Helpmann and those watching them perform - are in full costume, I think this is a dress rehearsal of the ballet.
