Meccano Metal-on Metal-Sound

In gravity escapements, the driving force from the escape wheel does not transfer the impulse to the pendulum directly but resets the weight that provides the impulse, therefore the escapement is not affected by variations in drive force.

However, in this Meccano model, the direct interaction between the escape wheel and the pendulum, alters the natural frequency of the pendulum.

This Erector Set escapement model is based on a Lego version posted by Ben Van De Waal on YouTube.
