Is your Epson ET-8550 unable to pick up paper from Cassette #2? In this video, Kevin demonstrates how to diagnose and repair a lower-cassette paper-feed problem when the pickup rod turns but the black pickup roller and nearby gear do not move.
The repair begins by safely placing the printer on its right side to protect the mainboard, removing the paper trays, and observing the pickup mechanism during a paper-feed attempt. After removing the pickup arm, Kevin discovers that an incorrect replacement spring had previously been installed, but the main cause of the feeding failure is a damaged internal pickup gear.
This video shows how to remove and open the pickup arm, replace the damaged gear, correctly align the keyed pickup roller with the hub, install the proper pickup-arm spring, and reinstall the black locking lever. The completed repair restores rotation to the pickup roller and allows Cassette #2 to feed paper again.
