Exploring Abandoned Mines and Unusual Places | Epic Exploration of Two Abandoned Mines Connected Underground @AbandonedMines11 | Uploaded November 2023 | Updated October 2024, 2 minutes ago.
What’s rare? Finding two abandoned mines that are connected underground! On a recent adventure, we found such a sketchy connection between Emily’s Exposition Mine and the neighboring Victory Mine.
Silver, lead, gold, zinc, and copper were mined at these two mines from the 1890s through the mid 1950s. To retrieve the ore, miners dug and blasted small, narrow, cramped stopes all over the place. In fact, I refer to these kinds of mines as “Swiss cheese mines“ because the stoping does resemble Swiss cheese! There were also lots of dangerous winzes dropping to unknown depths all over the place that we had to pass by.
For this two-mines-for-the-price-of-one adventure, I met up with Justin from @ABANDONED_UNDERGROUND , Joe from @ExtremeFieldTripEntertainment , and Todd from@ZiaMountainAdventures. If you haven’t yet checked out their channels, please do so. They have many spectacular videos of impressive abandoned mines that you’ll enjoy watching.
