George the talking clock was established in 1953 to provide an accurate time service over the telephone. After 66 years of service Telstra shut down George at midnight 1st of October 2019. Sadly I missed hearing the transmission termination as I forgot to factor in the time zone difference of the Australian states, the N.T. is half an hour behind the eastern states. RIP George!
