Rania's original work 'En Los Carreros de Caballos’ won first prize in the Release the Creativity category of Guildhall Young Artists (GYA) composition competition, RELEASE 2026.
Rania, from Junior Guildhall, says: "This short piece captures the excitement, tension and momentum of a horse race. It opens boldly with a lively, rhythmic motif that immediately creates energy and anticipation. It then launches into the A Section, where the main theme is introduced. The B section develops and transforms this material through shifting textures and harmonies. This gradually leads into a slower, more reflective passage filled with warm sonorities and lyricism. This calmer moment provides contrast before the music suddenly erupts back into the main theme with renewed vigour and intensity. Building through driving rhythms and full-ensemble textures, the work concludes with a dramatic climax that reflects both triumph and exhilaration."
The category judge for Release the Creativity was Tim Watts, Sub-director of Studies and Teaching Associate at St John's College, University of Cambridge.
