On the 6th November 2022, the very first Elizabeth Line through service ran from Shenfield to Paddington, departing Shenfield soon after 7am. It marked the very first passenger service to run from the mainline GEML to the Elizabeth line core via a new link. Also opened on the same day was an extension out west between Paddington's existing Elizabeth line station towards Acton Main Line.
We travel onboard the first ever direct train between Stratford and Whitechapel on a Class 345 (namely 345031), on this important day in the Elizabeth line's opening.
