In this video I talk about second sources for electronic components and give an example of a pitfall.

Normally second sources for electronic components are great, but sometimes there can be minor differences, possible input capacitance levels might be different for example, or there may be a slight difference in another parameter.

It's always worth checking.

One of my friends wanted to replace a transistor in an amateur radio transmitter and devices from the original manufacturer were not available. He used one from a different manufacturer but the pin connections were different.

Differences like these are rare but it highlights the necessity to ensure that components from second sources are compatible.
