El Moro Canyon Loop is an 8-mile loop in Crystal Cove State Park with 1,200 feet of gain, offering ocean views and ridgeline hiking without the parking chaos of the coastal trailheads. The route climbs out of El Moro Canyon, crosses rolling chaparral ridges, then drops back down through Red Tail Ridge. No permit required. Park at the El Moro Canyon staging area off the Pacific Coast Highway. Best hiked fall through spring when temps are cooler. Shade is minimal, so bring sun protection and plenty of water.
