In the first week of the UEFA Champions League, Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt, who will host Galatasaray tomorrow, had their head coach Dino Toppmöller declare the Turkish side as the favorites of the clash.
At the press conference held ahead of the match, which will kick off tomorrow at 22:00 Turkish time at Frankfurt Stadium, Algerian midfielder Fares Chaibi joined coach Toppmöller.
The German manager underlined the significance of competing in the UEFA Champions League, saying:
"We are in a completely different atmosphere. We earned the right to be here. It’s very important to enjoy this, to collect points, to win matches. Going into this game happy, joyful, and full of excitement is crucial. Not everyone gets the chance to start in the Champions League. We want this to be a very special evening."
Touching on the home advantage, Toppmöller stated:
"In Frankfurt, we always play in an extraordinary atmosphere. This will be a special game for us. On international nights, the vibe is different. This is nothing new for us — the atmosphere here is always exceptional."
When asked if his team felt any pressure, the 44-year-old coach replied:
"We know how strong and determined the team we are facing is. We don’t have easy opponents. Looking at yesterday’s results, football always shows that chances can arise even against great teams like Galatasaray. We may have less well-known players in terms of name recognition, but we’re a young side. It feels like we’re starting the match 1-0 down, but over the years our young players have developed a lot thanks to such tough encounters. Tomorrow’s match will help them grow even further. That’s why we’re very happy to be in this competition. A truly crazy week awaits us."
