“Most people think polar bears are only threatened by climate change… but around 1,000 are hunted and killed every year.”
For over a decade, conservation photographer Ole Jørgen Liodden has documented the Arctic — not only capturing the beauty of polar bears, but uncovering the global trade behind their skins.
What began as wildlife photography evolved into a mission to expose the loopholes allowing polar bear skins to move through international markets.
Through years of research, undercover investigations, photography, and collaboration with governments and environmental organisations, Ole’s work helped close a major customs loophole in Norway and contributed to the collapse of the market in Svalbard.
