To celebrate Christmas in July, here is a vintage granny square stocking .
This is made with a classic granny square measuring 4 x 4 inches.

Need a basic granny square?
Here's one that is also included in the pdf guide for this stocking:
🧶 Pattern:
– Tip: If your square starts to feel tight or cup, add a ch-1 between side clusters for a looser fit. You can also try ch-3 for your corners.
– Optional: Flip each square after every round to create a reversible texture.
Round 1:
Ch 4, join with sl st to form a ring.
Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in ring, ch 2.
*3 dc, ch 2; repeat from * two more times.
Join with sl st to top of ch-3. Fasten off. — 4 corners total
Round 2:
Fasten on in any ch-2 sp.
Ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp.
(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in each remaining corner sp around.
Join with sl st to top of ch-3. Fasten off.
Round 3:
Fasten on in any ch-2 sp.
Ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp.
3 dc in each side sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in each corner sp around.
Join with sl st to top of ch-3. Fasten off.
Round 4:
Repeat Round 3, continuing to work 3 dc in each side sp and (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in each corner. Fasten off and weave in ends.
