π§Ά Pattern:
Chain a multiple of 4
π Tip: If you want to start with a dc chainless foundation, ch a mult of 4 + 1
Row 1 (RS):
Dc in 4th ch from hook (beg ch-3 does not count as a stitch). Dc in each ch across.
Note: You should have an odd number of sts after Row 1.
Row 2 :
Ch 1 and turn. Sc in first st and each st across. Do not turn or fasten off.
Remove hook from yarn and add a st marker to the loop of base color.
Row 3 (Heart Row):
Join contrast color into first st (opposite end from held loop of base color).
Ch 2, dc in same st (counts as dc2tog),
*Ch 2, skip next 3 sts, in next st work (dc2tog, ch 1, dc2tog); rep from * across until 4 sts remain. Ch 2, skip 3 sts, dc2tog in last st, changing to base color on final yarn over to complete the stitch.
Fasten off contrast color.
Row 4 :
With base color, ch 2, turn.
Sc in first st, ch 1, *dc in middle st of 3 skipped sts from 2 rows below, ch 1, sc in ch-1 sp between dc2tog groups, ch 1; rep from * across, ending last rep after dc, ch 1.
Sc in last st.
Row 5:
Ch 1, turn.
Sc in first st. Sc in each ch-1 space and st across. Do not turn or fasten off.
Remove hook from loop and place a stitch marker to hold the base color.
Note: Your stitch count for this row should match the number of stitches from Row 1.
Repeat Rows 3β5 until the piece reaches your desired length.
To finish: Ch 2, turn. Dc in first st and in each st across to mirror Row 1. Fasten off and weave in ends.
