TV dinners are the order of the day when you’re streaming the latest thrilling drama or just catching up on the soaps. Sometimes eating on your lap can be an uncomfortable experience; the plate is too hot, the tray just won’t stay level, soup is definitely out of the question. This is when you need a mouldable bean bag to fix to the bottom of your tray, and they’re easier to make than you’d think.
Corinne Bradd shows you how to plan the size of your fabric, attach hook and loop fastening strips, make box corners, and fill your bag easily with a paper cone and a plastic jug. Then it’s simply a matter of securely sewing up the filling gap and fixing it to the base of your chosen tray.
Not just for eating dinner off. A squishable, tiltable tray can make so many things easier for somebody that has mobility problems. Whether it is used as a book rest, a writing and drawing desk, a button sorting table, or just for keeping a sandwich on, you’ll find no tray is complete without its own coordinating bean bag.
