The AOPA Air Safety Institute makes a preliminary assessment of the accident that occurred on June 4, 2023, about a Cessna Citation Jet that crashed into mountainous terrain in southwest Virginia after flying over the nation’s capital, prompting an intercept by F-16 fighter jets. The accident tragically took the lives of all four occupants.
