This plays for the Opening cutscene.
The opening cutscene shows the characters fighting over this orb like it's something important, but it's never brought up in the story. The Emperor's Orb itself is in the game, but only in VS Mode as a temporary power up that drops randomly. Which seems weird something so minor was made the focus of the entire opening cinematic. But then again, this game was meant to be all about its VS Mode, so maybe they thought players would actually be fighting over it like this.
