"About the only thing left in each generation, is loving and dying and death and frustration"
I was writing a song about dying, when I noticed that everyone who writes or sings about death, dies ... and usually tragically.
Helmut Koellen was a German bass and guitar player as well as a singer for the band Triumvirat.
The lyrics to the first song on Triumvirat's first album begins with "A song for all who've tried and lost" and concludes with "Your life has been in vain".
In 1975, Koellen left Triumvirat to pursue a solo career and record an album "You Won't See Me".
In 1977, Koellen died from carbon monoxide poisoning at the age of 27 while listening to some of the studio tracks in his car's cassette player and running the engine in his garage. His debut solo album was issued posthumously.
Side Note: I quickly reworked the theme of my tune to be about returning home through space and time (totally not dying). I then dropped the lyrics and turned the melody into a guitar instrumental. That should be safe (youtu.be/1FuUKGrjEGY)!
