Welcome back! Today we’re talking about Dungeon Crawler Carl. The hype around this series is insane. DCC is everywhere right now! And I get it! Now that I’ve read all seven books, I can confidently say that I adore Dungeon Crawler Carl. In fact, my friends and family were ready to stage an intervention...
This series is incredible. But it’s going to land very well for some people, and not so much for others. My goal today is to give you an objective, well-balanced introduction to this series so you can make up your mind for yourself if you want to try the seven books so far.
Overview: aliens take over earth and the survivors have to fight through a dungeon for the entertainment of all galactic citizens. There’s heaps of weird, absurdist funny things inside this dungeon, dark humour, satire and many other deeper themes. At it’s core, the series is a LitRPG, where the story is playing through a game. Yet despite all these different strange genres mashing together, it’s still fundamentally grounded on our characters and their fight for survival.
