In December 2025, during a day of elevated fire danger, the Dunedoo Rd Fire started on the outskirts of Dubbo. Driven by erratic winds and high temperatures, it quickly spread through dry paddocks and scrub, jumping a highway and threatening nearby properties.
As we head into this year’s fire season, we’re reminding residents of the importance of being prepared and knowing what you’ll do if threatened by fire.
The #RFS Get Ready Weekend is being held on Saturday 19 September and Sunday 20 September, providing the perfect opportunity to prepare your property for the season ahead. Our brigades across the state are holding events where they’ll answer your questions and provide advice on how best to get ready.
