For our NSW RFS members, stations aren’t just buildings, they are the heart of the brigade where we gather, train and socialise. So when the Jenolan Caves Brigade lost their station during the 2019/20 fire season, it had a devastating impact on the brigade members and their ability to protect the community.
Barry Richard is the co-founder of the brigade and helped to build the brigade's first station. The fires not only destroyed his station, but a collection of more than 100 matchbox fire trucks he’d collected over the years. We spoke with Barry about what the brigade means to him and the community of Jenolan Caves.
