It is August 8th, 2023, and I've been working on my very first level for Duke Nukem 3D with zero prior mapping experience. Well, this is somewhat of a lie, I have dabbled with this editor before, but this is the first time I'm truly serious about finishing something with it.
Mapster32 is an updated level editor included with the Source Port for Duke Nukem 3D, eDuke32. It really is simple to dive into, but complicated to master or pull off some things and my goal with this map is to put a little bit of everything in it to learn how to do it all.
At this stage, I've been working on this map for several dozen hours but a lot of those were wasted just looking at every little change I did instead of seriously working on it. Now that I am way more focused, I can definitely see so many ways I could make some of this a lot faster, but hey, that's the fun of learning something new!
I really love the aesthetic of old Build Engine games, so I hope you all do to! I invite constructive criticism, especially if you have experience with this level editor since I wouldn't have made it this far without this amazing community.
