As I said, apologies if this is known already. I was derping with redstone recently and came up with this. It was originally intended for my foosball game, but I ended up not using it due to the glitchy nature of 18 stacked minecarts.

A simple concept really, making a collection of furnaces into a key hole system. Using this concept you could effectively make a key system using a line of furnaces and the signal strength to determine the use of the output.
More a proof of concept than anything, could have made it much more complex, but figured simplicity was key.

They dont just detect redstone (above), but torches too
I am working on an adventure map (other than pirates) and there was a few things I needed, this being one of them. I started experimenting and came up with these. I have not seen anything smaller so I posted.
