DRIVER RUNS RED LIGHT AT 100 MPH, FLEES FROM DEPUTIES FOR "FUN" @MCSONews

On February 4, 2024, at around 10:30 p.m., Corporal Jordan Tripp observed a silver 2002 BMW sedan travel through a red light at the intersection of SW 38th Street and SW 80th Avenue. The driver, later identified as Michael Gonzalez (B/M, DOB: 05/09/2004) was traveling at around 100 MPH when he drove around Corporal Tripp and through the intersection. Corporal Tripp, who was stopped for the red light, activated his emergency lights and siren and attempted to catch up to Gonzalez’s vehicle. Gonzalez continued to flee for several miles at speeds over 100 MPH. Upon reaching the 7900 block of SW 80th Avenue, he lost control of the vehicle and spun out in the grass on the west side of the roadway.

Corporal Tripp pulled up to the vehicle, at which time Gonzalez continued to flee. Due to the fact that Gonzalez was traveling at high speeds, driving erratically, and driving into a residential area, the pursuit was canceled for public safety. Approximately 30 minutes later, other deputies in the area located Gonzalez’s vehicle. Corporal Milton Manchester conducted a traffic stop and Gonzalez pulled into a gas station. A felony stop was conducted and he was placed under arrest. When Corporal Tripp asked him why he fled, Gonzalez stated he thought he could get away with it and that it would be fun.

Gonzalez was arrested with Fleeing to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer with Disregard for Safety and transported to the Marion County Jail.

$MARION COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT ON THE GROUND AND IN THE AIR WORK TOGETHER DURING PURSUIT On Saturday, June 23, 2018, Deputy Christian Guerra was conducting proactive security at the Pryme Nightclub located at 9355 SE Maricamp Road in Silver Springs Shores when he observed a driver, later identified as Patrick Rodriguez Emanuel (DOB: 07/13/1993), commit a traffic infraction and saw that there was an alert on the vehicle’s tag due to the driver having a suspended license. Deputy Guerra attempted to conduct a traffic stop and Emanuel proceeded to flee. A pursuit was then initiated and Deputy Guerra, his fellow MCSO deputies, MCSOs Air One, K9 and Belleview Police Department officers worked together to pursue the suspect. Deputy Guerra then conducted a successful P.I.T. (Precision Mobilization Technique) maneuver and disabled Emanuels vehicle at the intersection of Maricamp and Baseline Roads. Emanuel then ran through a wooded area on foot and K9 Deputy Alan Lee and his K9 partner Zeus were able to track directly to Emanuels location with the help of Deputy Guerra and Air One. Emanuel was taken into custody without incident. Deputies later found Methamphetamine, Heroin and other drugs in Emanuels vehicle. Upon further review of his dash camera video, Deputy Guerra saw that Emanuel was wearing a backpack when he bailed out of his car after the PIT maneuver, but he did not have the backpack on his person when he was apprehended. After reviewing Air Ones video, Deputy Guerra and other deputies were able to pinpoint where Emanuel dropped the backpack and located it Monday morning. A crack pipe was found inside that backpack. Emanuel has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Heroin, Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving with no Valid Drivers License, Resisting without Violence, and Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer while Lights and Sirens Activated. Emanuel also had an outstanding warrant for VOP: Possession of Marijuana less than 20 grams. He was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail. GREAT JOB TO EVERYONE INVOLVED!!$
