Tonight we're taking one of aviation's greatest classics the Douglas DC-3 on a spectacular journey across California. This flight combines mountain flying, desert landscapes, and one of the world's most iconic island airports.
Departing Mammoth Yosemite Airport, we'll head south through the Sierra Nevada for our first stop at Lone Pine, beneath the peaks of Mount Whitney and overlooking Owens Valley. From there, we'll continue to Palmdale before leaving the mainland behind and crossing the Pacific Ocean to Catalina Island and its famous Airport in the Sky.
High above the ocean on a mountain plateau, Catalina offers a stunning arrival that perfectly complements one of the most beautiful classic aircraft ever built. You need to be mindful of the weather and winds out here!

KPMD (Palmdale Regional Airport) – A historic aviation hub before our final island crossing.
KAVX (Catalina Airport in the Sky) – One of aviation's most unique airports, sitting over 1,600 feet above the Pacific Ocean atop Catalina Island.
