Doug Kalitta kept his hot streak rolling Saturday at the NHRA Southern Nationals, powering to the No. 1 qualifying position with a monster 3.657-second run at 342.37 mph in his Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster.

The current NHRA points leader earned his 67th career No. 1 qualifier in front of a capacity crowd during NHRA’s debut event at South Georgia Motorsports Park. Kalitta now heads into eliminations looking for back-to-back wins after scoring victory last weekend in Charlotte.

After a lengthy rain delay, Kalitta delivered when it counted most. He’ll open race day Sunday with a bye run as he chases another Top Fuel win.

Shawn Langdon stayed in the spotlight after Friday’s historic 345-mph blast, backing it up with the second-fastest run in NHRA history at 344.91 mph. Billy Torrence qualified third with a strong 3.710 at 338 mph.
