At Doom's Gate played with the proVITAMIN MKII General MIDI sound bank.
For this DOOM E1M1 music, the overdrive guitar sounds nice...but the distortion guitar sounds like a cat choking on a hairball, or something equally unpleasant. ProVITAMIN has a good overdrive guitar, yet it has a disgusting distortion guitar.
As for the rest of the instruments, this GM bank does have some pretty good sounds, and excellent acoustic/ethnic/Asian instruments.
